I am considering getting a grain mill and I am a "buy once, cry once" kind of guy with things like this. Credible recent reviews for both of these seem few and far between. Diamant reviews suggest teflon bearings or bronze/brass bushings as being a bad thing. The GrainMaker® weighs less, has a shorter handle, smaller flywheel, etc. with some comments about the grain hopper

The Diamant and GrainMaker were out of my price range but I still wanted a grain mill that would perform as well. The best feature of the Country Living Grain Mill are the grinding plates. After two years of grinding wheat I still show no wear on these plates.

The difference is that the company machines the face of the casting more with the 14A/15A plates (buhrs). This results in the grinding a finer flour. Of course the results come slower since less wheat can flow through the mill. The 16/17 buhrs are a different casting and are a little better than the 14/15 plates loosely tightened.
