my TPH only got out a couple times since i got it. it was an accurate pistol for a really short barrel gun. function was . surprisingly those Walther PP guns are accurate for such short barrel guns. The excellent Walther TPH .25 pistol should be loaded only with ball ammo. Ed Sanow recommends the pre-fragmented MagSafe 22 grain "Defender" and Glaser 40 grain Safety Slugs. This makes a lot of sense in this under-powered caliber, since the .25 Auto lacks the velocity and energy to reliably expand most hollow point bullets.

Final Thoughts To clear the air, the PPK/S .22LR is probably one of the best small semi-auto .22LR pistols for defensive use on the market and is extremely reliable with top-shelf hyper-velocity ammo. That said, given the ongoing ammo shortage, I wish Walther had designed the pistol to be more accommodating to the entire range of .22LR ammo.

28,532 Posts. #3 · Nov 20, 2011. I forget what I fed my Walther P22, but I know that an inexpensive and poweful (and accurate) .22LR round is the CCI Blazer 40-grain. It still comes in 50-round boxes. I bought some a few years ago for $2.30 a box. It's just as powerful as "Mini-Mags" but cheaper.
