Beneficiation of high alumina iron ore fines from Noamundi, India is studied for producing sinter/ pellet grade concentrate. The iron ore fines sample was collected from the spiral classifier overflow of a typical Iron ore beneficiation plant of Noamundi, India. The sample was dried, thoroughly mixed and analysis indicated that the dried sample contained 59.77% of total iron, 5.89% alumina and 4.71% silica with an LOI (Loss on Ignition) of 5.53%.

Recovery of iron values from the Barsua iron ore slimes containing 56% Fe, 4.8% SiO 2, 7.2% Al 2 O 3 and 7.0% LOI by the addition of synthetic colloidal magnetite and oleate colloidal coating followed by high gradient magnetic separation technique was investigated. The effects of concentration of colloidal magnetite, pH, and magnetic field strength were studied.
