Indonesia has potential resources of iron ore estimated at 5.075 billion tons, with proven reserves of 115 million tons. Production of iron ore was recorded at 3.8 million tons in 2010. The reserves are found in Aceh, West Sumatra, Java, East Nusa Tenggara and Kalimantan. The size of the reserves has attracted foreign investors.
