Jun 4, 2020. #2. mixing chlorine and bromine can instantly ignite or explode. As can mixing cal hypo & trichlor tabs. In the same feeder. All it takes is a trace amount of them combining. i would really clean the feeder out before adding anymore bromine tabs- maybe even make them replace it. Also your pool guy should be fired.

Used to replaced a Hayward automatic chlorine/bromine off-line pool feeder that was 5 years old. Now 6 months later No chlorine going to pool no matter where the dial was set. Removed to determine the cause. Check valve broken and stuck in the closed position. Also noticed the tubing was getting brittle which means it will break again.
