Over tightening the hose clamp doesn't seal it. Use a little RTV sealant and safety wire and it'll hold 6psi nicely so you can check your crank seals. The only other place to check for leaks is the power valve actuator shaft seal. Remove the cover on the left hand side of the cylinder and use your soapy water sprayer to detect a leak from there.

O.K Guy's I suspect I have a crank seal leak on my 05 yz250. I have a crank pressurize tool kit that I will pressurize the crank case with this week. My question is this, can the crank seals be replaced on this bike without opening up the cases? I replaced the crank seals on my kx500 and had to split the cases for that bike.

00 YZ250 fresh rebuild smokes a lot. New reeds. New crank seal. Crankshaft Collar had wear grooves in it. Not bad but grooves. Replacement is no longer available. Part# 90387-2513A-00 COLLAR only ran 98-00 Ideas to fix? Weld it and ten have it machined back to size?

Just changed my right seal..On a Yamaha the clutch basket drive gear would appear to throw a stream of oil right at the seal while running.It would be easy for the motor to suck the oil in. I rode about 10-15 laps and a few starts at a practice track. It lost 150cc (put in 650cc and measured only 500cc coming out after the ride) oil in that short time, so I decided to replace it.
