First-time poster here. I cracked the housing on my passenger side view mirror backing out of the garage. The skull cap and the lower part of the housing are chipped; mirror motor still works fine. I've found the appropriate parts from HondaPartsNow.com (entered my VIN, so I know they're right).

The mirror and mechanics are fine.. however the housing is cracked off of the mirror (i.e. loose). I have bought a replacement housing for the mirror, and have popped open the bottom little plastic door exposing the 3 screws. Apparently this is the new way you can remove the mirror/housing for 2011-2012 models..

Legally, as long as you have two mirrors that provide an unobstructed view of the rear, you don't have to replace the mirror or the housing. That's risky, though. As mentioned, a cracked mirror is already a safety hazard and it will only take a little jolt for the entire thing to shatter. Then you'll be without a mirror completely.

I paid ~$289 (assembly with integrated turn signals and heated mirrors) for a entire passenger side housing and mirror assembly + install after it smacked a trash can at about 35 MPH. The way it was explained to me, if the painted casing was the only thing broken you can order just the painted plastic shell and replace that part.

The repair lasted about 6 months, then they broke again, so I wouldn't recommend it. Now, I have gone with velcro dots. I'll probably pick up these replacement parts at some point. If I recall, removing the mirror was simple once you got the plastic housing removed from the vinyl visor. Removing the housing was a bit tricky.
