I bought the Savage model 11 .308 with the intent to target shoot. It will be accurate enough for the first few shots, but from what I hear it won't hold accuracy after heating up. If I had it to do again, I'd get the heavier barrel. Someone will be along shortly to help with your length and twist rates, but I hope my little bit has been helpful.

103 Posts. #4 · Feb 9, 2014. Savage 10, 110, 11, 111, 14, 114, 16, 116 are all the same action with all the same trigger and barrel. 2 digits short action 3 digits long action. The 16 and 116 are stainless. They all have Accutriggers unless they are OLDER models. The variations are in the Stock or some other feature.
